So let's get to work. Remember defeat is optional is not just a podcast. It's a way of life. I just want to clarify what we're gonna be doing because I feel like Meditation can be confused with a lot of new age woo craziness and so The scriptural meditation is going to be where we really dive into one relaxation, but also just going into Meditating on scripture. There's gonna be a lot of scripture reading through this meditation, if you're joining me, i'm really excited for this. I think it's going to be really good. I think it's going to be able to help you guys just relax and also just think about and meditate on scripture. And what I would encourage you guys to do is after we finish this meditation, really pull a scripture out that really sticks out to you and really just think about it and meditate on it. Talk to God about it because the word of God is truth and the word of God is really your guide, right? Like, how do you hear from God? You have to read his word, right? but anyway Let's get rolling with this According to Google the definition of meditate is to think deeply or focus one's mind for a period of time. When we meditate on scripture, we're not just reading through it, guys. We're taking time to really think deeply about it. And the deeper we think, the more that scripture seeps into our hearts so God can use it. To truly change us, right? Scripture is what truly changes. The relationship with God is what truly changes us. So now whether, you're an athlete preparing for a competition, if you're working through a challenging phase of training, if you're just a person working through a challenging phase of life or simply seeking to sharpen your mental skills, I think this meditation in this quiet time is gonna be for you. And the theme of today's meditation is Conquering mental challenges. What we talk about on Defeat It's Optional all the time. And I want to, I want you guys to remember this truth. That defeat truly is optional. And as we begin, I want you to find a quiet space. Where you won't be disturbed. If you're driving, you want to keep your eyes on the road. But listen carefully as we go through this meditation. And make sure you're in a comfortable position where, whether that's lying down, whether it's sitting, it's up to you. But We're going to start, I want you guys to relax your eyes, and you can start to take a few deep breaths, alright? So we're going to start by inhaling deeply through your nose. You're going to go in. Hold that for five seconds. Now exhale, slowly through your mouth. So let's do that again. This is going to be the staple of this meditation. Inhale through the nose. Hold. And exhale. As athletes, sometimes we have tight areas in our body. I want you to feel any tension you have leaving your body at this moment. On this next breath, I want you to examine where you might be feeling pain. Where is there pent up tension? Is it in your shoulders? Is it in your neck? Maybe your low back. I want you to focus there. And now, take another deep inhale. And exhale. Continue to take these deep breaths, and as you breathe, I want you to be thinking about those places and releasing that tension as you go along. bring your attention inward. I want you guys to release any distractions from today. Release any anxiety about the tasks you need to complete. Release any fear you have about your future. Let go of any pressure from yesterday, any pressure from work, any pressure from training, any pressure at all. This moment is about your mind, and you, and your spirit, and you connecting to God. As you settle into this state of relaxation, I want you to rise to reflect on this scripture from Isaiah 40, 31. It says, But those who hope in the Lord, As an athlete, you know what it means to push through exhaustion, to fight against weariness. In this moment, allow God's strength to renew you. Remember that when you try to push through on your own, you will grow weary. So invite God into the picture. Imagine God giving you the strength you need to power through your objectives today. Imagine yourself soaring above your challenges, unburdened, light, and free. Feel that sense of renewal as you inhale strength and exhale weariness. So with your eyes closed, I want you to take another deep breath in. Hold that for five seconds. And exhale, long exhale through your mouth. Now let's shift to the mental barriers you might be facing. Maybe it's doubt, fear, or the anxiety of failing. These feelings are always going to be a part of our athletic experience. But let's remember, they don't define us. In 2 Timothy 1. 7 it says, That God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love and self control. So think about that for a moment as you sink deeper and deeper into relaxation, a place of contentment and realize the position of power you're in with God by your side. God has given you a spirit of power. You are not defined by fear. You're not ruled by doubt. You are empowered with love and self discipline. You have been equipped with everything you need to overcome your mental challenges. Inside of you lies the seeds of greatness. In you lies the gift of the Holy Spirit. In you lies God's overwhelming love and support for his child. Now let's come back to our breathing. Taking a deep inhale and exhale. Inhale power, exhale fear. Inhale faith. Exhale, doubt. Inhale, belief. Exhale, anxiety. Visualize any fear or doubt you may be carrying. Now in your mind, see yourself lifting these burdens and handing them to God. Let Matthew 11 28 wash over you. It says, come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Now feel the weight lifted off of you, and as you exhale, let go of what you've been holding, let go of what's been holding you back, and give it to God. Alright, so I want you to breathe in deeply. Now breathe out, and trust that God is with you. That he has equipped you and that no challenge is too great for you to overcome with God's help and with God's strength. Now let's take a moment and think about our victory. Think about you completing all the tasks you have today with ease or tomorrow with ease. implementing discipline in every facet of your life. Philippians 4. 13 says, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Now, take a moment and just repeat this scripture quietly to yourself. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Now feel those words settle into your heart. Picture yourself in a moment of triumph, whether it's crossing the finish line, lifting a new personal record, or overcoming an obstacle you thought was insurmountable. Maybe you haven't had a win in a long time. Imagine yourself getting that win. Imagine your body completely healthy. Imagine a season with no injuries. Feel your body recovering with maximum efficiency from your training and your competitions. Feel the electrifying energy surge through you as you mentally prepare to destroy the competition. See it vividly in your mind. This goes back to our visualization. Visualization. You are willing and you are capable. You are equipped with every tool you need mentally, physically, and spiritually to crush your goals. And I want you guys to let these scriptures move through your spirit. Here's the first one. He gives power to the faint and to them that have no might, he increases strength. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you. I will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee. When those obstacles are in the way of your success, remember Psalm 37 7. It says, I will not fret. I am still before the Lord. I wait patiently for him and entrust myself to him. Now, as you continue to breathe deeply, allow these positive affirmations to take root. I am unstoppable in the pursuit of my goals. I embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. I radiate confidence and resilience in all that I do with each affirmation, feel your confidence and growing. Remember that you're not defined by your past failures. You're not limited by your challenges with God's strength. You can achieve more than you ever imagined. So let's address any lingering anxiety. In 1 Peter 5, 7, we're instructed to cast all our anxiety on Him because He cares for us. So right now, picture yourself doing exactly that. The best thing you can do is talk to God about what you're feeling. A lot of times we try to handle these things on our own. We try to take on the anxiety and try to fix it ourselves. But it's counterculture to what the word says. It says that we should cast all of our cares onto God. So I want you to do that right now. Whatever it is that you're worrying about, whatever it is that you're stressed about, I want you to cast that care onto God. Whatever worries or anxieties you're caring about your performance, about your training, about your future. I want you to release them, hand them over to God. Trust that he can handle them. So take a deep breath in And exhale And as you exhale, I want you to let the anxiety leave your body Feel lighter know that god cares for you And you don't have to carry this burden alone And when you understand that you don't have to carry this burden alone your focus can now shift fully to the task at hand Which is your growth your journey your victory your relationship with christ as we come to a close, as we bring this meditation to a close, I want to give you guys a prayer. Okay? I want to pray for you guys. Dear Heavenly Father, We thank you for your grace and mercy during tough times in life. We want to thank you for our burdens. We want to thank you for our anxiety and our fear today and how you're replacing it with trust, faith, and peace. We know you give power to the faint and to those who have no might, you increase strength. We thank you because we know there is no challenge here on earth that is bigger than you. Now, Lord, we ask you to give us rest as we move forward in our days. give us direction. We pray that you give us confidence, knowing that defeat is optional because we are empowered by you and all that we ask in your mighty name. Amen. So I want you guys to take a final deep breath in and breathe out and understand and know that you're powerful, you're resilient, and you're capable of overcoming any obstacle with God's help and with God's strength. Guiding you. So I want to thank you guys for joining me in today's meditation. You've taken a huge step towards conquering the anxiety in your mind and towards getting your next big win. And in doing so, I think you've accomplished the most important step of them all is that you've grown closer to God. So whenever you are faced with a challenge, I just want you guys to remember that one, God is always with you and to that defeat is optional. Okay.
